Camino de Santiago de Compestela

7 05 2011

It’s hard to believe we’re actually going.

I heard about the “Camino” several years ago and after a few of my friends spent some time on the “Way of St James” I knew, someday, I’d like to do it too.  But, K was rather lukewarm to the idea.  He’d rather cycle and because there are so many other things to do and experience I didn’t push it.

A year or so ago, K quit his job and returned to school full time, working towards a Masters of Divinity. (No, being a parish pastor is not in the plan!).  While at school, during a choir practice, he heard about a pilgrimage course which included 3 weeks in Spain walking the Camino.  Suddenly the idea appealed to him: earn a course credit, spend some time with a group of like-minded people, and earn huge bonus points with his wife.  What’s not to like!

A few months have gone by, preparations are almost complete, dollars have been spent, dog sitting is arranged and anticipation is mounting.

Two more sleeps and we begin our journey.

Our final destination!
