Really? Surely we can do better!

26 05 2013

Everyday starts with the promise of being a perfect day. This one was no different.

We started well. A good breakfast and good breakfast conversation. A smooth ride out of the city, a cool day, but no rain. Took our first water break about  15 km in. As we cycled up the first hill, I realized I’d forgotten my glasses, not a big deal, it was only a short ride back.

Until we tried making a u-turn. Again the bike refused to co-operate and we found ourselves on the ground. Again! I now have matching scrapes on the other elbow and knee.

We picked ourselves up and headed in the right direction. Too bad I did not read the next line of our directions. After cycling another 15 km we realized we were supposed to turn off about 12 km before. After our initial horror, we looked at the map and figured out how to get back on track.

The narrow roads we look for!

We made one more navigation error, relatively minor, but it meant driving on a road with a little more traffic. Oh, well.

We take a break in the town of Doonbeg.

We are now near the town of Kilkee. It’s a resort town, reminds us of Grand Bend. We are at the beginning of the tourist season on a cool day so it was not busy. We stay here for two nights, tomorrow is a loop ride. It will be nice to ride for a day without the weight of the panniers.

Hoping to make less mistakes tomorrow!

Our home for two nights. Much more modern than the last one. And warmer.
